Lexie is five years old and was diagnosed with a brain disorder that is called Megalencephalic Leukoencephalopathy. It can and does affect speech, balance and daily activities.
She has to wear a helmet when out and about due to the balance issues that are present, especially
when walking. There isn't much in treatment plans at this time except to watch her closely and see
what other symptoms and issues develop in the future.
Lexie and her mom go to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital for Lexie's care where they gave her
a very vague outlook on her present condition. At some point, Lexie may end up in a wheelchair due to
balance issues and require 24/7 care.
In the mean time though, she enjoys school and being with her family. This coming summer she will finally get the chance to go and visit her favorite character in the world thanks to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Lexie will be going to Disney Land!

I couldn't find many great resources on Megalencephalic Leukoencephalopathy, but here is a very creditable resource:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK1535/
